Week 19-February 22, 2021

McClain Easton Mon, Feb 22, 2021, 4:29 PM to me Hey everyone! This week I don't have a ton to write about, but I do have some pictures to make up for it which is kind of rare for me! This week I had two exchanges with other missionaries, the district and then a zone leader. They were both a super fun opportunity to get into a different area and get to meet some new people, as well as to teach in English, which I don't get a lot of chances to do! We also had a lesson yesterday with a couple that kissed thru maskes in front of us, and he showed us a bite mark on his back, so that was awesome. The work in our area is also looking super exciting! We were able to give talks yesteday in sacrament, and I shared a message about how we are all children of a heavenly father, who loves us so so much. So whenever you get down, remember that somebody, at the very least 1 person, your heavenly father, loves you, and knows you perfectly. And that is something that will never change. I

Thoughts From Dad- February 21, 2021

hi McClain- I hope you have had a great Sabbath Day today. We have had a good Sabbath Day here and we look forward to talking to you on Monday. My thought today is around the testimonies of the 3 and 8 witnesses and how that relates to our lives. The 3 witnesses were a great relief to Joseph as finally someone else was able to see the plates and testify to others that they had seen. They always remained true to their testimonies of the Book of Mormon. I like how the missionary work is done in pairs as well. You are following a pattern that we see from the scriptures - In the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses will the truth be established. As a missionary you have the opportunity, and hopefully often times a blessing, to have a companion with you. I know sometimes they are better than others, but I know you will have a couple of special ones while you are a missionary. You are part of the marvelous work of the latter-days of spreading the Gospel. I know you might have expected i

Thoughts from Dad- february 18, 2021

Hey Bud My thought tonight continues from the example of those early Saints of the restoration. Once they knew the Gospel was true they asked the Lord how they could help. Several sections say effectively the same thing - gather Isreal by preaching the Gospel. These were not perfect men and neither are we. However they were humble and asked the Lord what they could do. Today we know what he asks us to do - and that is to serve a mission. You have been called of him to be his representative. Reread DC 4 tonight or tomorrow and feel the power that comes from that section. I was part of the marvelous work and now you are part of it and the blessings that come with it. As verse 7 says, ask God and he will Grant it to you. I love you and am proud of you. On Wed, Feb 17, 2021 at 9:56 PM Michael Easton wrote: Hey Mc - Hope your night was better than the Nuggets. Hey Mc - Hope your night was better than the Nuggets. They lost 130-128 to the Wiz - ouch... I am really enjoying the Come Follow Me lessons this year from the Doctrine and Covenants and Church History. I enjoy remembering/learning more about the early history of the Church and I sometimes marvel at how much sacrifice was required of those early Saints. In many cases, they gave all that they had to support a fledgling church. Why did they do this? They did because of their belief in Jesus Christ. This is the same faith that can carry you through the lows (and highs) of your mission. Here is a scripture from a few weeks ago that I always really like: D&C 6: 36 aLook unto me in every bthought; cdoubt not, fear not. If you can remember this simple verse, even memorize it, I know it will bring you comfort. It doesn't mean you won't have challenges, but it is a simple assurance that God will be by your side. Thoughts from Dad-Feburary 16, 2021

Here is my thought for today. One of my many favorite parts from the Book of Mormon is King Benjamin's address to his people in Mosiah chapters 2-5. Many years ago, I used to share a verse from chapter 5 with the young men about how we know God by having him close to our thoughts. My thought to you tonight is from Mosiah 4:27. And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order. Heavenly Father and Jesus know the "order" of things for you while you serve your mission. By staying close to them and seeking out their inspiration, you can know that order for yourself and you can know that your missionary service is acceptable to them. It doesn't mean that you will be perfect. And your best may be different than someone else's best. However, by

Letter From Dad-february 15, 2021

McClain. So great to talk to you this afternoon and to read your email. You are having some special experiences but I know from your talking with mom you are also having some challenges. Don’t let the lows detract you from what you have been called to do. A few thoughts for you as you start this week. 1 - re read your mission call. You were called by a prophet of God to be a representative of our Savior. I know Pres Nelson is our prophet today. 2 - re read your patriarchal blessing. Remember those feelings you had at that time. That was the Spirit letting you know if it’s truth. There are great blessings in store for you. 3 - our Heavenly Father and Jesus know how strong you are and much you can endure. This time in your life will prepare you for even greater blessings and challenges in your life. Know how much I love you and how proud I am of you. Let me know how I can help but know also that your Heavenly Father is watching over you and just waiting for you to reach out

McClain Easton Attachments Mon, Feb 15, 2021, 11:17 AM to me Hey everyone, hope you are all having a great week! We have some big news from this week. On Saturday night, Yolanda accepted an invitation to be baptized, and we are so excited for her. I have just been getting to know her over my two weeks in this area, but she is such a kind women with a strong desire to find more strength and comfort in her life, and baptism is such an awesome opportunity for her to find that. We can't wait to see how her life changes for the better as she takes this step to allow Christ to be the most powerful influence in her life. This week I have been settling into the new apartment, and here are some of the funny things going on so far: -The kitchen is always way too full during lunch and dinner with all 4 of us trying to get around -The apartment was pretty light at night, so we squished some cardboard over a window to block it out, looks horrible and works great -We like to through the foot

McClain Easton Tue, Feb 9, 2021, 8:58 AM to me Hey everybody, so sorry this is coming out late but P Day is Tuesday again this week because of Zone Conference yesterday. But we had an awesome week this week, so I have a bunch of good things to report on. When I first arrived in the area last week, things were moving a bit slowly, but Elder Cannon and I have been working super hard and we are already seeing some great payoff. In the last week we have already found 3 new people to start teaching, and it has been a miracle to see so many people willing to listen to the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for these opportunities we have had, and more importantly I am so excited for these people as they will find so much joy in the gospel. This week, I have been focussing on developing the trust that I have in God, and I have been writing in my journal at the end of each night how I saw his hand in my life over the course of the day. It has been a great exp
