McClain Easton Tue, Feb 9, 2021, 8:58 AM to me Hey everybody, so sorry this is coming out late but P Day is Tuesday again this week because of Zone Conference yesterday. But we had an awesome week this week, so I have a bunch of good things to report on. When I first arrived in the area last week, things were moving a bit slowly, but Elder Cannon and I have been working super hard and we are already seeing some great payoff. In the last week we have already found 3 new people to start teaching, and it has been a miracle to see so many people willing to listen to the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for these opportunities we have had, and more importantly I am so excited for these people as they will find so much joy in the gospel. This week, I have been focussing on developing the trust that I have in God, and I have been writing in my journal at the end of each night how I saw his hand in my life over the course of the day. It has been a great experience doing this, and watching how truly loved and cared for I am by my father in heaven, and I know he loves and cares about each one of you the same, you just need to be keeping an eye out for him! Trust is built upon seeing what God has done for you in the past, and having faith that he will answer your prayers and do it again. This week I really enjoyed Alma 31, which is a story in the Book of Mormon about missionaries back in Ancient America who saw how important it is to trust in God to move forward. I loved these few verses: 32 O Lord, wilt thou comfort my soul, and give unto me success, and also my fellow laborers who are with me—yea, Ammon, and Aaron, and Omner, and also Amulek and Zeezrom, and also my two sons—yea, even all these wilt thou comfort, O Lord. Yea, wilt thou comfort their souls in Christ. 33 Wilt thou grant unto them that they may have strength, that they may bear their afflictions which shall come upon them. The idea of finding comfort of the soul in Christ really hits home with me. I have always been a very goal oriented, motivated person, and as a missionary I have sometimes felt so uptight about getting too many things done and feeling overwhelmed. To me, finding comfort in Christ means the world. Anyone who turns to the Savior can find comfort in him. This week we also started a mission wide health challenge, and I am well on my way to taking home 1st place. President promised some good stuff for the winner, so I'll probably have another nice BYU shirt to add to the collection by the end of the month. Living in the quad (4 missionaries) has been a ton of fun as well, we have a great time together! Thanks so much for reading, have a great week everyone!
