Week 53 Inbox McClain Mission McClain Easton Attachments Mon, Aug 30, 2021, 9:33 AM to me What an incredible week out here! We finished off the transfer with some incredible news out here in Delano and some big miracles. To start off, Johnathan accepted a baptismal invitation for September 18th, so right before I leave this mission! He is a high school boy who reached out to us about a month ago and has such a strong, sincere desire to come closer to his heavenly father and savior Jesus Christ, and it has been such a honor to help him come closer to what matters most. We had a few lessons with him this week, we usually teach him at a park by his house that is a short walk away. On the way there a couple little houses with tarps connecting them, and this week there were a ton of chickens and dogs running around outside one of them. Always odd things going on here in Delano haha. This week we also had a wars fireside, a sunday night program with a few speakers to talk about the temple. It was a great experience, and we got to see a bunch of people that dont regularly come to church that made it, and then there were way to many treats for the small group that came. However, the cookies I made to bring got some incredible reviews. We were out of chocolate chips but had PB MnMs and threw those in, game changer. Transfer news came out, and elder Martinez and I will be sticking around here and training a new elder, so we are pumped about that. This will be my 4the transfer here inDelano, best area in the mission hands down! This week I have been loving this scripture in Doctrine and Covenants: 15 And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father! 16 And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me. I have spent a long time working my hardest here in Delano, and it is incredible to see things really paying off. The lord is doing his work! Wed, Sep 2, 2020, 7:11 PM Hey everybody! I'm super excited to share a couple things from my first week in the CCM, the missionary training center, in Mexico city. Even though the experience is all online and a lot different than I had planned, there are definitely some great perks to being at home. I get to watch my brother's tennis matches, be with family, and I don't have to say goodbye to Chipotle. Most of my days look pretty similar, starting at 6:30 when I wake up, exercise, have breakfast, and prepare for the day. After that I have morning class, followed by personal, companion, and language studies. Almost all of my structured time is spent on zoom with my companion and/or district, and it has been super fun to get to know them! I wrap up with my afternoon class around 7, and then get to spend a lot of time with my family which has been a great blessing unique to the online mtc. Wed, Sep 9, 2020, 4:40 PM Hey everyone! Hope things are good even for the Jazz fans out there... The second week of the MTC has been way different than the first. In the beginning, everybody sat quietly behind their zoom camera, we still spoke English, and our Spanish practice was limited to the comforts of practicing with other learners. Everything changed when we started speaking with native Spanish speakers and quickly realized how far we have to go. We had the opportunity several times this week to speak with volunteers from South and Central America, and more than once they looked at me like I was an alien after I asked a question. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up too bad, because most of the time I was able to backtrack and help them figure out what I meant, however it is becoming obvious the Spanish of the CCM is just a little taste of what it will be like living in a different country. It's already been a whole month, so excited to be writing this week! Hope everyone is doing well. Want to apologize in advance for my slow response to emails, I always love to hear from everyone and always have time to read, but limited computer access and time to write back make it tough for me to respond, so sorry if it takes me a while to get to your email! This week was super busy, and we finished off the transfer. Elder Stastny and I will be staying here in Santa Clarita and Elder McDonough is headed to the other zone, so I'll be in a companionship of two for the next few weeks at least. Trio is a fun way to go, but the companionship will be great and we are looking forward to an exciting few weeks ahead! We had the opportunity to teach a lot of people this week, several members and investigators, as well as the chance to go to a Streetside burrito shop, which was incredible.
