Week 55- September 13, 2021

Week 55 Inbox McClain Easton Attachments Mon, Sep 13, 2021, 2:49 PM to me This was an awesome week! The work is continually picking up here in Delano, and we couldn't be more grateful. This week we taught my all time high for lessons, almost 20 to our friends, so we were do busy! Some of the highlights: Our friend Jonathan passed his baptismal interview and will be getting baptized this week on Saturday. We have been working.with him for about a monthnow, and he is a really a special kid. He is a senior in high school, and has shown such a sincere desire to become a better person. He doesnt come from much, so it has been a humbling and eye opening experience to share the blessings of the Gospel with him. We also began teaching a senior at a differenthigh school, named Angel, and we think he will progress super quickly. He came with us to church yesterday and had a wonderful experience. Similar background to Jonathan, and has already taught me so much about simply having a good attitude, he looks on the brightside of every situation, and the gospel of Jesus christ is helping him become an even better version of himself. We sang "I am a child of God" to finish our sacrament meeting yesterday, and he commented how incredible the words made him feel. After moving away from home and being a missionary for so long, don't often feel like a kid any longer, but that song, and that message, bring back the strong feelings that I have am a child of God! And we all are children of God! A few weeks we had a dog that looks like it is straight out of "I am Legend" the movie with Will Smith, come running and barking at us. Luckily it was behind a fence. Even more lucky, we talked to the owner... and even more lucky we have been teaching him since then! This was the first week the dog was ok with us coming into the yard to teach, and needless to say there are few times in my life I have felt more uncomfortable than when it was sniffing my legs and circling us like a shark in the water. However his owner, Rudy, is an incredible man. Has worked in the fields his whole life, and again is teaching me so much as we talk with him about the Savior. Best part of the week may have been with Miguel yesterday. Gave a talk in sacrament meeting. It was a remarkable experience. We helped him get ready on saturday, and then he gave a completely different talk Sunday. Unfolded his three crinkled sheets and then spoke with confidence. I was so proud and full of joy. Then after church, I was able to confer him the priesthood, the power of God, to perform ordinances in the church, such as baptism, temple ordinances, and to give blessings. It is a pretty big milestone, and I was honored to be apart of it with miguel. Really an awesome day for him. Elder Martinez and I are loving it here! Unfortunately our trainee had to go home, so it's just been the two of us since then, but we make a good team. Last night we had a dog follow us for about a mile, I'll attach a picture we tried to take. Other than that, wanted to share this scripture... In alma 19, ammon is teaching the people about the savior, and here is the result... 33 And it came to pass that when Ammon arose he also administered unto them, and also did all the servants of Lamoni; and they did all declare unto the people the selfsame thing—that their hearts had been changed; that they had no more desire to do evil. Coming unto Christ helps us to change! Such a wonderful message. Thanks for reading, have a great week! Elder Easton
