Week 3: Daily Synchilla November 2, 2020

Mon, Nov 2, 2020, 2:18 PM to me Hey everyone! It's crazy to think that 3 weeks have already flown by in the field. I came out here at the perfect time of year, its finally starting to cool down a little bit, so at night we have to wear jackets. Unfortunately, I wasn't really expecting that, so I only brought one sweater (called a synchilla), and I've been wearing it virtually everyday. Luckily it is my favorite jacket, but soon the people we teach are going to think it's part if the missionary dress code. We had a super busy week this week, we taught 8 lessons to various members of the branch yesterday! Usually about half the lessons we teach are in Spanish, and about the same amount are in person. Getting out of the apartment and practicing Spanish are two of my favorite things, so yesterday was an awesome day. Recently we have been spending a lot of time reading the Book of Mormon with our members, and just having a conversation about what we have learned. We have found this is one of the best ways to feel the spirit and to leave those we teach spiritually empowered. As missionaries we also get a new perspective on a lot of scriptures from doing this, and everyone benefits from the spirit that is present when we read the Book of Mormon. In my personal studies this week, I got the chance to read in Doctrine and Covenants section 76 19-24. If you haven't read these before, I strongly recommend them! They testify so strongly of our Savior and have helped me to feel closer to him. This week with Halloween, we had to be inside by 6, and not many people wanted to have lessons on a holiday night, so we didn't have a ton to do. We made some great pumpkin cookies tho and did some pushups. Not the spookiest night ever but I've never been big on scary things anyways. Hope you all are doing well! 1. Cookies 2.
