Week 27

McClain Easton Attachments Mon, Apr 26, 2021, 12:18 PM to me Hey from Delano! This week I got up to my new area, and it has been awesome so far. For anybody who has seen McFarland USA, the Disney movie, we are about 5 minutes North of that, and it looks exactly the same up here. We live right next to an enormous almond field, and there are massive grape and cutie fields nearby as well. It is a really humbling experience to see where all the food I have been eating my whole life is grown, and a really unique view. I do definitely kind of miss the hills from Santa Clarita, that was like a little piece of home! We are working with a man named Skyler, who is really progressing towards baptism and an absolute stud. He coaches football at McFarland, and said he sees a bunch of the guys from the movie all the time. Other than him, we have our work cut out for us in this area, which makes it a really exciting challenge. I am also now in a ward, rather than a branch, meaning the group of members we have to work with is a little bit bigger, and we don't have to pass off English speakers to other missionaries. Very different here than it was back in Santa Clarita, but its awesome. We have some neighborhoods up here that really feel like a little Mexico. Dogs everywhere, chickens, and tortilla smell. This week we had interviews with president, and we talked about some of the incredible blessings of the temple. For everyone who doesn't know, this is how the church explains the temple... "A temple is literally a house of the Lord—a holy place set apart from the rest of the world. In the temple, you learn more about the plan of salvation and how to follow Christ’s perfect example. God’s greatest blessings are available in His temple" The temple is an incredible place to learn, feel the spirit, and strengthen our testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ. I cannot wait for temples to open back up! Some of the greatest blessings in the temple include the sealing of families, which is the greatest blessing our heavenly father has for us. The gospel points us to the temple, to take advantage of the opportunity to be with those we love for all of eternity. So powerful! My new comp, Elder Shoemake, and I are getting along well and loving our quad, we have a super fun apartment. Its been exhausting this week to move and get used to the new area, but they have made it a blast. Looking forward to some good times with them. Thanks everyone for reading, have an awesome week! Elder Easton
